News of the day

big splash news

Spring is coming,

living up to 

deepest thoughts of water, 

new life it promises, 

songbirds rise

forever upwards,

in our hearts,

hope you enjoy 

their living up.!

 I took parts of headers from newspapers and poems, wrote them all in WORD document,
 then printed them, cut them in strips, adhered them as strips to the page,
 covered it with gesso,
overwrote the wanted parts with a PITT artist pen.

I received these wooden birdcages and birds in my DT package.

 At first I really didn't know what to do with them, I thought of doing a layout, but then decided on using this canvas that has been lying around for a while now.

I used the backside of a canvas to make this. . The background is a monoprint. I chose to keep the colors on the wood monotone, to make the cages the eyecatcher.

'Handmade' project must include some handwriting.

OK, it must be said, the new challenge at TIOT, which is 'handmade', was a bit difficult for all us DT members. 

Why? Our own handwriting! But I succeeded, and am happy with it. .

It says:

She gave him this letter after receiving the flowers from him , and he blows her some hearts .... 

Silly me, but it's Valentines day today, LOL.
27 years for me this year...

 I received a yummy package with a beautiful tag.... 

...doilies, diecuts, paper napkins, small pocket envellopes, cheesecloth, Embossed CS, some fabric, and not on photo : also some beautiful  ribbon from Webster pages. 

She really spoiled me, THANKS again Alison!

Abstract painting is the theme this week !

Although this is a real challenge for me, I did enjoy doing this! 

Messing around with color and shapes. 

If I had to do it agian, I would approach it differently, I think.. 

I started off on a monoprint that was not to my liking; that's the red in the background.

Art journal page week 4 - Journal 52

Building character is what happens if you make mistakes in your life, and learn from that. 

This page is about that. 

It's part of a bookpage from an 'ancient' educational book for children, learning to read. 

It's a typical dutch picture as you can see, the boy with his father's 'klompen', way too big! 

He gets warned that he will fall, and get his just-cleaned trousers filthy... 

He says he will not, BUT there he goes, all wet and filthy on the slippery ice!
