My Creative Monday for Magenta - Cosmos collage

Today just a quick play... colorful background, extra color to the flower, and background stamping with postage stamps.
Adding a little extra to the edges with some tears into the edge and a paper distresser, too...
I stamped it with a very dark purple.. love to do that lately.. it's softer than a black and brown.

My Creative Monday for Magenta - Butterfly Girl

A leftover strip of a colorful background onto which I stamped part of the stamp as well,
the face added a little color to and extra color with a watercolor pencil to the butterfly, that's how I created this!

Easy isn't it?  I love this stamp, never played with it before.. I will play with it more, for sure!

Inspiration for the mood board of January

Another page in my happy art journal with gelli printed pages...

These colors fit the mood board colors for the Rubber Dance challenge this month well...

There are prizes to be won on the Rubber Dance FB group.
You can share your makes with any product from Rubber Dance!!

... so join in the fun.

These colors were quite a challenge for me, but in the end I am glad that I challenged myself to use 'only' these colors.

Vintage Antique Botanical Card

Today I am sharing a vintagy card on book paper...

The flower looks as if it has been made for this ..

Adding a white watered down white gesso tones down the script on the bookpaper, and also lightens it a bit. The gesso also forms a barrier so the paper will not soke up all the color when adding color to the images. I colored the flowers with Ecoline, a fluid watercolor and added a few more touches with a water-based ink marker.
The edges were sponged inward towards the image with a light blue distress ink.. where there is no gesso on the edges it will take up more color as to where there is gesso.

To make the flower pop even more I added more white acrylic (also watered down to blend into the background better) around the image.
The rest of the card speaks for itself I assume.

Have a good day!

My Creative Monday for Magenta - Watchful Goldfinch

I am happy to share with you this card of a goldfinch.

I have no idea whether I colored it in the real colors of a goldfinch, but I wanted the bird to be in the same colors as the background.

How to make this card:
Create a background with a spray (made from Nuance) and leave to dry.
Stamp on it with a dark brown, while the paper and stamp are in the stamping tool.
Paint thetree and the bird's 'white areas' with a white watered down acrylic paint. Leave to dry.
Stamp the image again with the dark brown stamping ink, and remove the background from the stamping tool.
Color the images with the same colors and add a little extra color with a watercolor pencil if needed.

Cut the background with a die and assemble to the card base.

I am seeing forward to the day we can admire those birds outside again... in a few month's time.

Until next time!

BIG blub-blubb Whail Wishes for the New year

Happy new year to you all!
A new year asks for a new art journal, isn't it?
So, I made one and filled a spread with an underwater scene, sort of.

Yes.. I played with my gelliplate again ..
Before pulling the prints I stamped in the wet acrylic paint with mostly stamps from the
Sketchy Flowers #1 and Pencil Marks #1 stamp sets.
I've sewn the signatures with a kettle stitch to strengthen the spine.

I've made a journal from A5 gelli prints by folding them vertically, and adhering the back sides to each other to form the spreads inside the book.

These are two of the spreads that need to be filled yet, but has a basic background to start off on for any other happy play day.

I chose this spread as I liked the foliage on these pages.

I stamped in the background with some similar colors, not too dark, and also with second generation stamping.

The main images are stamped with a dark purple, as well as some background foliage and script stamping.

I fussy cut the main images and colored them with very little color.

I wish you "BIG blubb Whale blubb wishes" for the new year!

I still have a lot of spreads to fill.

The back and front cover and spine are covered with a separate print on sturdier paper, adhered to the back of the first and last page ..... as easy as that.
All the edges were torn with the help of a ruler.

... will have to add a closure with a thread and a button I think...
