Another tulip in October ...

I made the background with sprays onto glossy cardstock.
I only discovered later that I could easily remove it...
so I had this idea:
Stencil onto background, wet cloth to remove color...
and of course I sprayed it with a fixative when done!

Het achtergrondje had ik al gemaakt met een spray op glanskarton. Veegt er zo weer af?!
Idee geboren:
Stencil (The Crafter's Workshop) erop, een nat doekje en weghalen kleur... .
daarna natuurlijk gefixeerd met een spray!

It gives a nice frame around the tulip!
Dat geeft een mooi lijstje om de tulp.

Waterdrops ...

I've colored the stamp with watercolor pencils, misted it with water and stamped it onto the cardstock.
I used a fineliner to accentuate the outlines, an acrylic marker to add, and whiten, the circles in the heart of the flowers. .
I stamped the drops in the background, and colored a few of them with the same watercolor pencils.

Organics matter most!

An Art Journal page for you today, measuring 18x22 centimeters, showcasing the gorgeous Organic Matter stencil!

I've made a photo-tutorial - showing the steps, but also the 'trial-error' I had to go through in the end, the page not being in balance..

****

Adhere some pre-colored cheesecloth to your page (I used a glue spray on the back of the cloth).
Do some random stamping with a background stamp (Magenta Stamps).
Add a layer of gesso.

(Note - I started scanning the first steps, that's why the colors are so bright., changed to photographing later steps... much better!)
Add some structure paste through the Organic Matter stencil, leave to dry.
Add another layer of gesso to make the structure paste non-absorbent. Also add some scrapes of gesso with an old credit card, especially over parts of the cheesecloth to add interest.
When dry, spray the page with some pearly spray inks. Leave to dry.

Fussy cut some images from a napkin, adhere it to the page with decoupage glue.
Also add some stamping by stamping onto some tissue paper, and adding torn parts of it to the background. Add a layer of decoupage glue over top to make it non absorbent.

Now the fun part started - adding highlights to the image and the outer lines of the Organic Matter stencil with a white acrylic marker (Molotow), and add some extra color to it with a brush and pearly spray from a previous step.
At this stage I saw that I did not like the page, being out of balance, and the form of the cheesecloth being too eye-catching.

A close -up of the page so far..
.... look at the gloss from the pearl spray, and the contrast with the baubles of the Organic Matter stencil, the structure of the cheesecloth peeping through.

Never give up -
so, add some more structure paste with the Organic Matter stencil to get some balance..
....and follow the steps to get the same effect on these baubles as well.
DONE!

 *****

Some close-ups
I really LOVE seeing the effect the Organic Matter stencil has on the overall page.
Without it, the page would not have this much interest !!

GLIMMER and glam!

Hope you've enjoyed the process!

Go grab your TCW stencils - they're so much fun!

I am entering this in the challenge on
1. Art of the 5th - May 23rd - cheesecloth

The Original Documented Life Project - week 22

Playtime for me again!

I am doing the Original Documented life project, the May theme was :
Touchy Feely (Texture)
Art challenge for May 30: Textured Paper
The Journal Prompt I'm So Not Feeling It!

So, this is another art journal page of 18 x 25 centimeters! Yes, I am still in the run to finish all the weeks - so much to learn!

The base I started with is embossed wallpaper...  and is great for using in mixed-media projects either to paint or use inks on, or to stamp with. It holds paint beautifully!
(Thanks Lorainne for this reminder !)
I just inked it.

To fit the bigger art journal page (it was too small, I tore pieces off the sides, adhered it to the sides, leaving some torn edges...which makes for extra interest.

The red is Bistre, the green a custom made pearl spray.
I LOVE the pooling of the color within the sections, and not soaping into the wall paper either.

I am HAPPY with this page!

I am entering this in the challenge on
1. Penny Black challenge- warm autumn colors
2. A vintage journey - journaling with Tim
3. Country view challenges - add some texture

LOVE the colors in autumn, but not the cold and windy and rainy days!

You must know - I was born in Brazil,
