Creating BIG...

.... YES, playing with acrylic paints and stencils to create a 30/30 background.
Cut it up in pieces in the end, and you've got one-of-a-kind backgrounds for 6 cards.

NOTE - I worked on my BIG craft sheet from www.craftsheet.nl. Cleaned it afterwards with a wet cloth, and I was good to go for the next project. LOVE that you can order it in nearly any size, and the quality is superb! Go have a look on their website if you're interested!

A tutorial today on the HOW-TO,
showing the use of 12x12 stencils.

****

Use a 30/30 scrapbook paper in a blue color as the base.
I used a scrapbook paper from Bazzill.

Brayer some white acrylic paint to the page to add interest.

Use 3 different greens plus a yellow and a red acrylic paint and sponge it over this beautiful stencil : TCW536 Postcard 12x12
Don't use too much paint.
Make the colors blend on the page.

Using the same colors of acrylic paint, sponge over a second stencil. ...

....and a third....
TCW502 Impressions 12x12

 ...and a fourth...
TCW532 Cathedral of Love 12x12]

  and finally a fifth one.
TCW514 Cabbage Roses 12x12

To knock back the colors a bit, brayer some white acrylic paint to the page. I scribbled in the paint on the brayer before applying it.

NOW: cut your page into 6 A6 backgrounds for cards.
Add some sponging with red and blue distress ink to match the background.
Also add some white with an acrylic marker to make the sponged images pop.

Stamp a saying onto the card, heat emboss it with clear embossing powder.
Adhere to a card base.
A close-up.

LOVE the chalky effect,
although, as the steps enrolled,
I thought maybe I should have stopped sponging after the first or second application of color.

What do you think?

This was in the newsletter:

Autumn Leaves
with Ellie Knol - DT Magenta

Step-by-step instructions for this lovely Autumn card.

You will need:
White cardstock
Distress ink
Archival ink
Clear embossing powder
Bleach
White acrylic marker
And these Magenta's products

1- Create a background by dabbing various distress inks onto your craft sheet and turn your cardstock face down on to the ink and move it around to absorb the inks. Leave to dry.

3- Use bleach to remove the color on  the insides of the stamped image.

2- Stamp the image with Potting Soil Archival ink, and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

4- Add some white lines with an acrylic marker around the stamped image, and add some white dots to the image.

5- Stamp the image onto a scrap paper, and cut it out. Put this mask onto the cardstock to cover the stamped image.

7- Enjoy the finished card!

6- Stamp some script in the background, then stamp again without reinking your stamp to give a faded effect. Add some white dots with the acrylic marker to the background as well.

 Voilà! Happy creation!
