Dahlia flower stamp ... and a TIP ...3!

Coloring with Nuance powders.. method 2 (there are way more methods)
Stamp the Dahlia Collage Stamp from Stampendous with Versamark and heat emboss with WOW white embossing powder.
Sprinkle a little bit (you can always add more later!) red, yellow and orange Nuance powders over the flower image parts, and blue, purple and green Nuance powders on the parts surrounding the flower.  No worries if they overlap each other a little.
Mist it with water until the colors are blending, and add more powder in places if necessary.
TIP: Cover it with household wrap and leave to dry.
Add some extra color to the images itself to make them pop a litlle, with aquamarkers or watercolor pencils.

Pan Pastel and stencils

 Pan Pastel and monoprinting.
1. I used (part of) a monoprint to start with. To color a monoprint with Pan Pastel is so nice, as the coloring can  be done so subtle. Also, because of the use of acrylic paint on the monoprint, the paper is not smooth anymore, and it makes that the Pan Pastel 'sticks' well to the paper .
2. Stamp the script with versamark and color it with Pan Pastel. I used Ultramarine Blue 520.5 and Red Iron Oxide 380.5
3. Fixate the colors.
4.  Accentuate the word ART with a white gel pen.
5. Adhere a few butterflies to the card. Color them with Red Iron Oxide 380.5
The leaf used in the monoprinting is a custom-made stencil.
Stamps are from Stampers Anonymus (script) and Unity Stamps (butterflies).

Another way to combine Pan Pastel and stencils:
1. Color the background with Violet 470.5.
2. Put the poinsettia stencil on the cardstock, swipe versamark over it, and color it with Pan Pastel, colors Yellow Ochre 270.5, Phtalo Green 620.5, Permanent Green 640.5 and Red Iron Oxide 380.5.
3. Remove the stencil, stamp the script with versamark, and color the background with Pan Pastel.
I used the 3 greens mentioned in step 2.
4. Stamp the sentiment with a white ink. Use a white gel pen to accentuate the flower, and overwrite the sentiment with it also, to have the same white as the poinsettia.
5. Draw a doodle around the edges with the white gel pen, color it outside the edges with different colors Pan Pastel.
6. Fixate the colors.
.
The script stamp is from Stampers Anonymus.
The stencil is also custom-made. It has been designed by Yogi , and I asked whether I could use it; she was so kind to send the design to me, for personal use, how kind is that?!

Panpastel en embossing

A tutorial for you: PanPastel and embossingfolders!

****

Emboss you cardstock with the embossing folder. Dab with versamark ink over the embossed image. It will make the PanPastel stick better to the paper, and make it more intense!

Start coloring with the lightest color, for me it's Brighr Yellow Green 680.5
Don't color the leaves all over; leave some white!
Color with a darker color, just touches. I used  Permanent green; 640.5, Again, don't color leaves all over; leave some white!
Now to the darkest green Chromium Oxide green shade 660.3, to create depth. More depth has been created because I left lighter parts on the leaves.
The berries have been colored with 380.5.
and the edges of the cardwith the lightest green, 680.5

Fixate when you've finished coloring.
Of course this technique could also be used to create gorgeous backgrounds with a background embossing folder!

Another idea: a box full of techniques.... .

I created a box from cardboard to hold ATC-sized cards.
At the moment this box contains over 200 technique cards.
On the backside of each technique card, I wrote a short how-to of the technique.
The technique card that I added for today's technique is this one.
On the back there is also a number, in this case nr 203. On my PC I've got a folder with pictures of all the techniques, sorted by number. Easy to find now!
Maybe you also find this idea handy, to never forget all the techniques you discover while playing.

From now on I will post the technnique card I put in my technique box for PanPastel, under the blogpost.

Holiday cards...

I used some corrugated board to create these cards. To be able to stamp on it I gave it a few coatings of gesso. The main images were stamped with black Archival ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. It makes them pop!

On this card I added some torn pieces of music paper, and painted it with watered down gesso...

The images were colored with distress markers.

12 Tags of 2013 - November

I did not make a tag this time around, but did use Tim's November techniques to start off with, and then gave it my own twist! I used pearl-ex powder instead of chalks.
