My Creative Monday for Magenta - Flower Stencil play !

Using a stencil to kind of free draw the flowers on watercolor paper and
drawing it in the same way neurological art is done.
I painted the petals with watercolors from my watercolor palette;
just playing with letting the colors mix on the card.

Colorful flower ATC's

What you see is what you get with this series of 3 ATC's.

I added a few notes to each of them.

Create colorful backgrounds with distress inks.

Use leftover strips of colorful backgrounds to be a new background. (yes, really, this background is made with strips of paper! )

Fussy cut the flowers from watercolor paper; add a little color to the centre.

Heat emboss Grungy Swirls in white in the background.
Add white splatters with an opaque ink or paint.

Stamp script in the background.

Add a sentiment

Sponge more color around the edges and distress the edge of the paper with a paper distresser or a sharp edge.

Three happy ATC's to swap at a show !

My Creative Monday for Magenta - a tag with monoprinted flowers

Today some inspiration: Fussycutting a part of a not-so-nice gelliprint to make a tag.

This is the monoprint I've used.

I stamped and heat embossed a script in white and used some bookpaper as well to add interest.
A little coloring with a pencil in green as well!

The backside! The yellow sponging of distress ink ties it al together.

My Creative Monday for Magenta - recycling of diecut leftover..

A leftover of a diecut forms the frame of this flowery card with just 2 stamps, a flower and a script stamp.
They are both from EllieKnolDesigns with Magenta, and I still love these!

The colorful background is the backside of a background that did not turn out well... the color went right through the paper... happy accident because I do like it now.
I stamped flower and script with StaZon Blazing Red to match the  color of the 'frame'.

It's nothing fancy but very striking as far as I am concerned. Leftovers from diecuts are many a times a good start for any project, so do not throw them away too soon!

Paper Weaving Sketchy Flower

This time I'd like to share this technique I recently learned from a post by Karen Dunbrook : Paper Weaving. (I want to give credit where credit is due ) ..
Thanks so much Karen for this inspiration!

Start out by cutting/using up paper strips of about 1,3 centimeters wide and weave them to form the background ..

I chose to make it slightly larger than I would need, so I could just cut the unneeded part away. No need to glue he whole thing, as long as the edges are glued.

As I used regular cardstock strips, I needed to cover the background with a transparent gesso first, as the color will soak into the cardstock.

I chose to color the image with a ready made watercolor, to have more control of the coloring (from Ecoline and Dahler&Rowney).
I put a kitchen towel underneath while coloring the images to absorb any color that would go through the holes in the background.

To provide a nice backdrop for the weaved paper background I created a background with the same colors, and stamped around the edges randomly with some text and mixed media stamps in colored and black ink.

Apart from stamping sequins I also adhered real ones with glossy accents.
The weaved part is adhered to the colorful background with 3D tape for more interest and depth.

Don't tell Susanne, but I think this flower is one of my most-used stamps :) ;
for this project to work I had to use a stamp with a lot of white space, so it's perfect.
