The Original Documented Life Project: - 3

I am doing the Original Documented life projectthe January theme being:
The Blank Page and How to Face It!
Art challenge for the 3rd week:  The Color Wheel
The prompt is:  "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way . . . “    - Georgia O’Keeffe

about the prompt, I let the page speak for itself... I did not add the prompt to the page itself.
I am saying how much I love my Creator for all the beauty in nature.. not just for that though!

All the colors of the colorwheel are here..

LOVE how this turned out, and it was super easy.

NOTE: My camera does not like all those colors; the heart of the flower: it looks as if there is a yellow ring over the petals, IRL it's not that yellow.

HOW TO:
1. Start by scribbling color onto the page with watercolorcrayons.
2. Add watered-down gesso to blend the colors, cleaning the brush between the colors (otherwise you get muddy colors).
3, To even more knock down the colors, add white acrylic paint, and scribble into that to give some interest.
4. Leave to dry. (difficult!)
5. Adhere a paper napkin (parts of it) with decoupage glue. Leave to dry.
6. Add color to the outer parts of the petals and dilute with a waterbrush.
7. Add shadow with a black pen.
8. Stamp a script in the background.

I SO love that you can see through the paper napkin, and the layers of the underlaying layers are visible.

That effect LOOKS GREAT, as far as I am concerned.

What do you think, ....will you give this a try???

Art Journal page with theme - napkins

****

This was the original napkin:

Gesso did the trick here, getting rid of the yellow of the flowers, and to tone down the music in the background! The edges of the flower were done with a Molotow acrylic marker in black, from Colourstock.

Coloring has been done with watercolorpencils.
Some Distress stickles for the centre of the flower.

This page has been inspired by the theme of week 46 on Journal52 - napkins
The script stamp is an oldie from PSX.

I am entering this in the challenge on
1. Art Journal Journey - collage
2. Artist trading post - Let's celebrate

Week 22 of Journal52 - Traveling

Travelling was the prompt for week 22.
Yes, I know I am behind, working hard to get back in track:)

I started off with some bookpaper from a roadmap. I glued it to the journal page, then covered it randomly with some gesso. The part where the car had to come, I added a little more, to cover the map better. The skyline was added, and all the other stamped images, to create the collage as shown. I added touches of color with watercolor pencils. I sponged with some distress inks...

"Wherever you go, becomes a part of you!"

Car - PSX
Postage stamp left - Kaisercraft
other postage - unknown to me.

Art Journal page - Summer

I really LOVE to mess around in my Art Journal! Gesso, watercolor pencils and distress inks are within reach then! I so much enjoy using watercolor pencils (I've got the Faber-Castell brand - they are really the best as far as I am concerned!) They're so easy to use.......and,
TIP! .......applied onto gesso, you can really play with them, as the color does not sink into the paper, it's easily muted then, or sprayed with water etc.
I use them on most of my creations!
One 'new' product from Faber Castell I'd really like to try in particular, are Gelatos. Because the prize for the challenge on the FABER-CASTELL blog is a set of Gelatos, why not try and win them? I LOVE using/playing with new products!
It might very well turn out as an all-time favourite. As you might know, creating backgrounds is something I enjoy, GELATOS will be just what I need in my creating process!

The flowers have been cut out of Scrapbooking paper; if you look at the close-up you will see tiny little sunflowers.

I am entering this in the challenge on:
1. FABER-CASTELL -  'favourite summer memory'.
I always enjoy doing the garden and enjoying the flowers, being outside, in the sun...... that is the most precious I enjoy every summer!
I've used Faber Castell watercolor pencils to color the flowers and the sun, and to accentuate those same colors in the background, to give balance to the whole.
The dutch text says - "Everything has more beauty in the sun" !
2. Art Journal Journey - 'less is more'

The horses stamp from PSX is a stamp I borrowed from Eileen Godwin, HOW KIND IS THAT!, and made some beautiful cards-in-spe with it, to be used in future! This is ONE of them!

Scenery

Ik ben dus helemaal geen liefhebber van scenery's, en heb deze stempel dan ook maar op Marktplaats gezet. Het is een stempel van PSX.
****
I don't like making sceneries, so I decided to sell this stamp from PSX.
