Vintage Book cover with jute - book no 36

YES,  book 36 for series 52

The book measures 19 x 21 centimeters, the 16 plastic pockets inside of it 13,5 x 19 centimeters.

 The book cover is from MDF; the front cover in 2 pieces, a narrow strip for the hinge on the left, and a wider part to act as the actual cover. is covered with the jute to makes for the hinge, and the jute thread to hold the pages. The back cover is one solid piece, the MDF is about 4 mm thick. 
 The 'pages' are plastic pockets for 13x18 centimeter photographs or any other content that size, of course.

To start, I white washed the jute with a watered down acrylic paint.
 It was fun just using a tiny piece of colored background to fill the ellips frame. The leftovers were then cut into various sizes of circles to extend the color to the rest of the cover. 

Background stamping with black ink and mixed media stamps was added to both the back and front cover. White accents adds more depth, done with white acrylic paint and an acrylic marker. 

The ellips is the focal of the book, and the fussy cut foliage fits right in the center of it all.  

All in all it has a vintage style as a start, with the torn edges (jute) and the basic color of the jute, but adding a color and white wash effects it changes to a modern but shabby chic style (I think, lol). 

White paint splatters, vintage buttons and lace finish it off.

Book 30 for series52

This is book 30 in my book series. 

Guess what I've used to make this book? 

This was a wallet... one from leather... one I've used a lot when we still had cheque books in our wallet...

At that time I was still working for Barclays International Bank in Johannesburg as a computer programmer in mainly Cobol, some 30 + years ago.. 

I might add an elastic band still to carry a pen.. 

I lined it with a floral piece of cotton..

Book 29 for series52

This is book 29 in my book series. 

Eight signatures in a cover-like booklet... using a piece of cardboard to hold the signatures by stitching them onto it with a coptic type of stitch, which, when finished gets adhered onto the inside of the spine...

IENIEMINIE - TINY Art - book 26

I made a tiny little booklet approx 5 x 5 centimeters with hand binded double folded watercolor paper, leftover from card we use on the Art Specially Event for demoing with Magenta. 

The covers are from tiny little canvasses, and fabric adhered to it to cover the front and back and spine. I added some beads to the thread that is wrapped around the booklet for closure.

Inside collaged stamped images with faux postage stamps created with rubber stamps from Art Journey. 



I used a mask to be able to sponge within the centre of the faux stamp.

I used a lot of stamp sets and chose images that would fit the tiny pages and faux stamps.

2018 #12 Transfers: Treasures {by Ellie Knol} for Paper Artsy

Book 15 - for series 52

week 15 : book 15. 

This time a booklet with a whole lot of inchies from watercolor paper.. 

It measures 4x4 (pages 3,5 x 3,5) centimeters. A tiny book... 

I've glued the pages to each other, and then glued the red thread into the back. (I made a 'hole' in sawing it in and to which I glued the thread)

 The ends of the threads were attached to the covers, and also the back and front end papers.

The cover was part of a gelliprint with Paper Artsy Fresco paints; and adhered to a piece of wood.

Stampng has been done with Archival Jet black ink 
and the stamps from

AALL & Create A6 Stamp set #10

I've added white accents with a white Sharpie Extra Fine Point Poster Paint Marker

It measures 10 x 14 centimeters. 


LOVE the spine this way.. black gesso and  a silvery wax..

The stencil I've used here is a new one from Magenta!!

and the fish net -- I knotted it myself :)
