Exploring color with butterflies and flowers

I made 2 cards for you today, showcasing what a difference color makes on a background and focal point.

I've used some leftover backgrounds from a post back in November 2022.

In that post I made ATC's with an uncolored focal point. It would look like the card below : no color on the main image.

Color added to the image:

I went a step further... not just coloring, but choosing 4 different colors from the background to color the main images. Purple and orange on the card above, green and blue on the card below:

Just so you can see the cards together : it makes a huge difference as to what colors get used on the main image as it makes the colors used in the image pop more in the background.

...and the second :

Enjoy some more pictures:

I always get more depth when photographing the projects upright with a light source on the left, in a light box. ..

That's it for today, I hope you got inspired by my two cards to explore color.

Please share it with us in the FB group and have a chance at winning some product from the shop as we have an ongoing challenge with an extra moodboard if you like to use itIt is basically a anything goes challenge though, you do not have to use the colors of the moodboard.

Come join in the fun and be inspired by our lovely design team!

My Creative Monday for Magenta - Mixed Media Card

I LOVE to make cards from scrap pieces of paper.
The card I've made is one from pieces of gelatine prints, edges of ledger paper other pieces of leftover backgrounds.
I scraped a little gesso over the background with a palette knife, and finished it off with stamped script and also white accents and doodles with a white acrylic marker.
That's it, lol.

Moody Winter Art journal page

I had a play on an art journal page again today!

The base is a gelliprint made with Pencil Marks stamps on the gelliplate. This is a page in my gelli-printed-papers-journal, in which I make a page with every stamp/set I own from Rubber Dance only once.

I chose this foliage stamp to go on this wintery and moody background as it depicts the winter weather we have at the moment, cold and freezy, foggy weather.

I had to splatter white acrylic paint for some snow on the scene of course.
The page on the right is a very colorful page, in a big contrast to the one on the left.

Sketchy Leaves ATC's

Hi there,
Ellie here with you today sharing a fun technique for a large background (masterboard) to be cut up to make several cards and ATC's.
I will only share the finished ATC's today.

****

Adhere several smaller torn pieces of colored paper and book paper to a large piece of sturdy paper. Choose the colored paper's colors from a moodboard or other source so they will match the colors you want your background to be when finished.
 Leave to dry.
Cover the whole surface with watered-down white gesso using a palette knife. Immediately dab gesso away from areas you want to preserve more than other parts with a damp cloth.
Leave to dry.

Stamp with several background stamps in several colors onto the  background as shown.
Leave to dry.
Add extra color (I added light green only) to the background.

Now cut it up to the size of ATC's and cards.

For today's post I finished the four ATC's only, I will share the four cards on a later date.
Enjoy!

Above the four ATC's I've made adhering fussy cut images and words to it.

This is such an easy way to create multiple backgrounds in one go.

Hope you like it and got inspired.

Please share in our FB group; there's a chance to win a prize from the shop!

Colorful Sketchy Flowers art journal cover

The cover of a gelli printed paper journal from me today for Rubber Dance Stamps.

I had fun playing on the gelliplate with these flowery stamps!

I've added one fussy cut flower stamped onto white paper to the collage and a sentiment.

The berries were also given some extra color; and the hearts of all the flowers, to make them pop more.

Bird Ready For Spring Journal page

The birds are in our gardens; looking forward to spring... I am too!

Playing with color and stamps in a journal makes for joyful time spent..

The picture above is where the coloring of the stamped and fussy cut images still has to be done!

The background is a playful one with Neocolor II crayons...
How? Scribble Neocolors II onto the page, spread the colour by wetting it with water-diluted gesso. Try to do each color with a fresh load of gesso as it will turn muddy otherwise. For interest, add pure gesso in a few spots.

Add more stamping in the background with Mixed Media Stamps!
What is the 40 for? It's our house number in the street, the row of circles are the 'stones' around the border ..

I am ready for spring!
