New challenge and DT call at FSC

Let’s Get Messy & Inky is the new theme;
Our wonderful sponsor Marina from Cottage Crafts is allowing the winner to choose anything from her shop up to the value of €7 + postage and packing.
Shirley is the inspiration behind this challenge theme and she would love to see all those splodgey grungy and totally inky creations.  The Fashionettes have certainly got their little puddies inky and messy with inspirational pieces for you all to look at.

12 tags of 2012 - July 2012

One thing I know for sure: I don't like working with alcohol inks, they dry too fast, they are too brilliant... to go short, you can just not play with them!

I am entering this in the challenge on the Tim Holtz blog, 12 tags of 2012

Texture by covering objects with gesso

I started by applying gesso over the beautiful lace, and some fabric. The rose is cut from a paper-napkin. The text was also stamped on a whte paper-napkin and added to it with decoupage. The background colors are pearl-spray inks.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
1. June challenge on HEart Journal 2012
2. Frilly and Funkie- 'let's see some texture...'

Nature's got flair!

It's been fun to make...

I decided not to put the text on the page itself, but on a seperate
transparent. Now you can flip the transparent over and see the page
itself without the text. I did not want to disturb the background too much.

I scratched different colors watercolorcrayons onto the paper, which was gesso-ed first.  I then added a layer of white acrylic paint, which blends the colors, and also adds a transparent layer to it.
I added a second layer of branches, stamped wth some white acrylic paint, to give the branches more depth!

Shadow for the bird!

****

This was the page I got 'stuck' with. I had finished the background, and the bird and water, as shown above... I didn't know what to add .... I did not want to disturb the background too much...

So I sent it to the Dutch Art Journal group asking for help.
I had 13 reactions, the most of them said : leave it as is...
One reaction said to give the bird some shadow, so I did!
The same and another person recommended some branches, so I did!
A few other reactions: some text (in white) on the background - I did some text...
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!

Use a digi ...

........at Panpastel UK...
I don't like the word 'digital stamping', because that's not stamping at all...
but this challenge is to use a digi... I used the digi to do a transfer which is the house, trees and the grass. The rest is real stamping. I like the combination...

Oriental at FSC

Come join us in the challenge on FSC. The theme this time is Oriental, and you have two weeks to enter! Oriental conjures up some really amazing picture scenes from the Far East especially from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Asia and many others places.  They all produce such amazing fabrics and clothing with so many amazing colours and designs.  We would love to see how your card or project portrays the Oriental style.
Our wonderful sponsor Marina from Cottage Crafts is allowing the winner to choose anything from her shop up to the value of €7 + postage and packing.
