A new favorite stamp - the wren!

 Of course this wren stamp is my favorite from the new catalog of Magenta! 

( It's my own design... )

I started by choosing a piece of scrapbookpaper from Magenta. It has this soft grey background. 

I decided to stamp the wren in light grey, and heat embossed with clear embossing to make it more defined. 

The background already had some rusty accnts so I chose rusty hinge distress ink to sponge with. 

I made some of the images pop more with a white acrylic marker!

Playtime for me again! 
 I am doing the Original Documented life project, the April theme being : 

Color Safari (Exploring Inks and Paints)

 Art challenge : Watercolors

The Journal Prompt:    It's Water Under the Bridge

Another art journal page of approx. 18x25 cm!

 I chose to keep it simple this time. 

I let the watercolors and paper do it's work.  (o, yes, and the household wrap!) 

 

I added a script in the background as the 'journaling'. 

I did not use the Journal prompt on this page. Sorry, no bridge, LOL. 

The flowers were drawn very lightly with pencil before filling in the background. I only had to draw them with an acrylic pen then. Easy Peasy! 

I used 250 grams watercolorpaper.

 The wren is (one of) my new stamp designs at Magenta. So that is what is the custom element on this page .. hope that counts. I used the word OWN from the journal prompt. The script in the background is also my own (design).
The stencil in the background of the clocks and script is from TCW!

I am doing the Original Documented life project, the February* theme was: 

Layers You Will Love!

 Art challenge for the 9th week:  Using at Least Five Layers
The prompt is: Give Me a  High Five

*I've already done a few weeks after this one, but had to wait to post this page. I am behind, but not that far!

1st layer -  use this page from leftover distress inks from craft sheet; adhere it to the page. See the torn edge at the top? 
2nd  layer - sponge with black distress inks over a stencil, also the script. 
3rd layer - structure paste over a stencil (script)
4th layer - sponge the butterflies onto a separate piece of cardstock, in several purple distress inks, heat emboss with clear, cut out and adhere over the black sponged butterflies.  
5th layer - add purple distress stickles over the seed heads and bodies of the butterflies. 
6th layer - sponge the purple colors (distress inks) onto the background.  
7th layer - add finishing touches like white edges with a white acrylic marker.

 A lot of stamping on here!
The background has been made with acrylic paints, and also been stamped into (with a sponge) with red acrylic paint.
I added some watered-down gesso to tone down the background a bit, to make the main image pop more.
The script was stamped onto blotting paper and adhered in strips with decoupage glue.
The butterfly was stamped on a seperate piece of cardstock and cut out, and of course adhered to the card.

Craft Stamper Take It Make It challenge - May
