My Creative Monday for Magenta - Fluid watercolors onto photo paper part 3

I share three new samples of the technique today...

I've simply added script and doodled with a white acrylic marker to define the flowers of the stencil.

This is the outcome of the first part of the technique.

My Creative Monday for Magenta - Fluid watercolors onto photo paper part 2

Have you seen the technique last week?
 I promised to do this as part two...

The basic technique on an ATC:

- Where we left off last week: the mask on the photo paper and all the inky colors on top of it, and seeping underneath the mask as well. 

.. to continue HOW TO BASICS:
- Now simply place a second piece of photo paper faced-down on top of it and rub gently over this pile of cardstock with the mask in between.
- Remove this second background. Now you can also remove the mask from the first one. 

- Leave to dry.

Another example which resulted in a card ... 

To finish it off, stamp a script with a solvent ink onto the background and add some white details with a white acrylic marker.

Sometimes it's even possible making a third background when there is still enough color on the mask.
First mist it with a little water.

Watercolor fun with Mixed Media Marks

I am sharing fun watercolor backgrounds with you today as I shared 2 weeks back on the Rubber Dance blog!

This is where it all started.. watercolor play and trying to loosen up, on a big sheet of watercolor;  in the meantime getting the practice of brushstrokes and control of water in the process.

Not that I am new to watercolor, but practice makes perfect, doesn't it?

I did a watercolor workshop on Skillshare from Jo-Marie Barlow to create the backgrounds for the 10x10 cm cards and ATC format cards.

(As for Skillshare: 2 months for free and after that you might want to subscribe!)

 Why not play, and then cut it up?! 

 

 I gave it my own twist ..
... adding Mixed Media Marks... 

... and of course a stamped focal point....
 Grungy Butterflies and
Flowers Gone Wild and Doodle flowers on the ATC's. 

... I made 2 ATC's and 4 cards from the masterboard!!

June Rubber Dance challenge

HOW to:
Add 3 colors on an acrylic block with Ecoline watercolor brushes, in a horizontal way. Spritz with water and 'stamp' it onto watercolor paper. Leave to dry for at least 15 minutes, for the water to soak into the paper.
Remove the acrylic block and leave to dry properly.
Stamp the flowers onto the background with white heat embossing.
Add extra color with the markers as shown to make the flowers pop more!

My Creative Monday for Magenta - Fluid watercolors onto photo paper part 1

I start with very useful techniques for the next few weeks...
Playing with fluid watercolors onto photo paper

For the paper: I experimented with a variety of brands, the result you achieve will sure differ on each of them.
If the color just soaks into the paper, it will give a way different effect.
I assume this was a quality paper, as the color floated on top and mixed really well with the water.

HOW TO basics. 
- Place the leaves mask on top of the photo paper (A6).
- Mist it with a little water.
- Apply the fluid watercolor with a wide brush over the mask; when you use different colors, rinse the brush before applying the second color.
The color will also seep under the mask.
- Don't remove the mask yet as you can use the remaining ink to make a second beautiful background (this will be part two next week!)
- Leave to dry. 

This is an ATC...

I've made a card with the same technique.. 

To finish it off I stamped in the background with a blue solvent ink.
