Creating BIG...

.... YES, playing with acrylic paints and stencils to create a 30/30 background.
Cut it up in pieces in the end, and you've got one-of-a-kind backgrounds for 6 cards.

NOTE - I worked on my BIG craft sheet from www.craftsheet.nl. Cleaned it afterwards with a wet cloth, and I was good to go for the next project. LOVE that you can order it in nearly any size, and the quality is superb! Go have a look on their website if you're interested!

A tutorial today on the HOW-TO,
showing the use of 12x12 stencils.

****

Use a 30/30 scrapbook paper in a blue color as the base.
I used a scrapbook paper from Bazzill.

Brayer some white acrylic paint to the page to add interest.

Use 3 different greens plus a yellow and a red acrylic paint and sponge it over this beautiful stencil : TCW536 Postcard 12x12
Don't use too much paint.
Make the colors blend on the page.

Using the same colors of acrylic paint, sponge over a second stencil. ...

....and a third....
TCW502 Impressions 12x12

 ...and a fourth...
TCW532 Cathedral of Love 12x12]

  and finally a fifth one.
TCW514 Cabbage Roses 12x12

To knock back the colors a bit, brayer some white acrylic paint to the page. I scribbled in the paint on the brayer before applying it.

NOW: cut your page into 6 A6 backgrounds for cards.
Add some sponging with red and blue distress ink to match the background.
Also add some white with an acrylic marker to make the sponged images pop.

Stamp a saying onto the card, heat emboss it with clear embossing powder.
Adhere to a card base.
A close-up.

LOVE the chalky effect,
although, as the steps enrolled,
I thought maybe I should have stopped sponging after the first or second application of color.

What do you think?

I am entering this in the challenge at :

Leuk dat je dit stap voor stap hebt laten zien.
Ik geloof nooit dat ik zolang door had durven gaan, want ik ben altijd bang dat ik dan het moois verpruts dat ik al heb.

  6. My personal experience with Masterboards is that when you think you should have stopped 2 steps ago you actually need to do MORE layers. Having said that, your results are looking good!
